"Gitchi Misawedamowinan" (kitchi mis-wayn-damowin) is Ojibway and translates to "looking for wonderful successes" or "having great expectations" of those who attend this program.
Brief History: On November 1, 2010, the Seven Oaks Parents in Support of Aboriginal Education passed tobacco to Mary Courchene, Elder in Residence for 7 Oaks School Division, to provide a name for an exciting new initiative for 7 Oaks students.
This is a new opportunity for students to experience a student centered approach to learning in a unique setting, with unique resources. The creation of a registration & intake process, and identifying program goals have been the main focus of the initial weeks.
GOALS:

- To provide a safe environment for the student who may not be thriving in the traditional classroom.
- To facilitate the youth's discovery of their personal gifts, strengths, and talents.
- To build self-esteem and pride.
- To promote the realization that the youth's contributions are valuable.
