Jaclyn Oliver had no idea she was even nominated for a scholarship.
Then she won the Seven Oaks Education Foundation/Seven Oaks School Board Awards for High School Classic Achievement.
“The first that I heard about it was when I walked across the stage to receive my diploma and heard, ‘Jaclyn Oliver is the recipient of the High School Classic Achievement Scholarship,’” recalls Jaclyn. “I had no idea!”
“My reaction was a mix of excitement, pride, and joy. I was trying very hard not to cry on stage!”
Jaclyn is also currently a student at the University of Winnipeg, with plans to become a freshwater biologist who aids in saving the lake sturgeon in Manitoba. Her scholarship win gave her a little added inspiration that she’s carrying forward in her studies.
“Although it helped out with the costs of university, the greatest part of receiving the scholarship was that an anonymous person nominated me because they saw me having a future,” says Jaclyn.
“This scholarship has greatly motivated me in reaching my goals; if someone out there believes in me, of course I should as well!”
