The Board of Trustees of the Seven Oaks School Division wrote to candidates in the Kildonan-St. Paul and Winnipeg North districts requesting them to respond to isses that "concern us as a school board and concern the community that we serve. While education is primarily a provincial responsibility there are federal issues that have a significant impact on our children, parents and taxpayers.
- There are significant waiting lists for daycare at all daycare centres in our school division. What will your party do to ensure an adequate supply of affordable quality daycare?
- The Millennium Scholarship program is coming to an end. What will your party do to provide quality post secondary educational opportunities for our students that are accessible and affordable?
- Data shows that First Nation, Métis and Inuit students are experiencing lower levels of school readiness, lower levels of grade achievement and lower graduation rates than other students. What will your party do to turn this around?
- The federal government has committed to increasing immigration targets. What kind of supports do you see your party providing to immigrant and refugee children in schools and their families to increase their success in schools?
- Would your party ensure that children in schools have the right to download Internet materials that were intended to be freely available?
- Do you support an end to charging GST on purchases made by school boards?
