Heritage
Language
The Seven Oaks
School Division is offering after school Heritage Language Programs in Cree,
Filipino, German, Italian, Ojibwe, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi and Spanish
during the
2005 – 2006 school year. This
program is offered free to students from the Seven Oaks School Division;
applications from non-resident students will be accepted with a charge of
$100.00 for the school year. Refunds
for out of division students will not be issued after November 1st if
students choose to no longer attend Heritage Language classes.
All Heritage Language classes will be held at the Maples Collegiate, (Ken
Seaford Building)
1330 Jefferson Avenue. The classes
will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from
4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Classes will not be held on days when special events take
place at the Maples Collegiate.
Grouping
of students will depend on the number of registrations, level of language
skills, age and availability of space in the school being used.
The
school division will make every effort to provide transportation for students
from their home school to the Maples Collegiate where all the Heritage Language
classes will be held. Parents may also choose to transport students
directly to classes. Once transportation is arranged for students it is
expected that students will continue to use this for the duration of the
Heritage Language school year. Parents will be responsible for ensuring
that children return home after classes at 5:30 p.m.
They must be picked up at the Maples Collegiate and NOT the
student’s home school.
Heritage
Language classes will be held from October 18, 2005 until March 23, 2006.
There will be no classes held during the winter vacation, which begins
December 23, 2005. Classes will
resume on January 10, 2006.
