Welcome to the Educational and Clinical Support Services (ECSS) website!
ECSS is a Seven Oaks School Division department consisting of social workers, psychologists and speech-language pathologists who are school-based. We also have a director and one and a half administrative assistants.
What Are We?
Seven Oaks Educational & Clinical Support Services works together with teachers, administrators and parents, outside agencies and children. Most of our work takes place in schools. Services are free of charge to children and their families.
The team that comprises the Seven Oaks Educational & Clinical Support Services include:
- Speech-Language Pathologists
- Psychologists
- Social Workers
- EPS Mental Health Consultant (provided through M.A.T.C.)
Clinicians are highly trained professionals. Each year services are provided to more than 10% of all the children in the schools we serve. The purpose of the Seven Oaks Educational & Clinical Support Services is to provide a wide range of special services which will help meet the educational, social, emotional, communication and behavioural needs of children in a coordinated manner.
What Do We Do?
There are many reasons why children may benefit from the services of the Seven Oaks Educational & Clinical Support Services. Clinicians help children in the areas of:
- Learning
- Mental Health
- Behaviour
- Social Needs
- Communication
Our teams work in cooperation with teachers, administrators, parents, outside agencies and children. Some of the ways we are asked to help include:
- Assessment and treatment of the academic, communicative and behavioural needs of children
- Consultations with school staff, caregivers and other agencies
- Direct work with families
- Prevention activities, such as parenting, screening programs, and classroom – based intervention
- Workshops and inservices
- Research
- Professional development programs
We suggest that you contact the school and talk to the teacher or principal. They can work with clinicians on a request for service. The school, the family, and the Seven Oaks Educational & Clinical Support Services then become a team working together to benefit your child.
