As a learning community, we value the following:

¨ We value harmony, happiness, social and physical well-being.
¨ We nurture acceptance and respect through the development of personal responsibility for our actions.
¨ We value that knowledge, awareness and acceptance of community further involvement and action.
¨ We value thinking and process that provide for different learning styles and meaningful student engagement
¨ We value intrinsic motivation and personal ownership of learning

We strive to understand wonderful pictures, great stories, delicious words . We help each other in connecting what we hear and read to what we already know. What does it make us think of? What opinion is this author giving us? Whose viewpoint does it represent? What does the picture say? What would it look like if different colours were chosen? Wonderful literature gives children a means by which they can make judgements about what they read, see and watch because they know what they like and don’t like and are able to tell you why. We live in such a visual world that children need the tools to understand their environment. Good literature offers them a lens to see things differently

We offer children many different experiences to engage in discussion and thought with the goal of extending their own viewpoints and understandings.
