Ecole James Nisbet is the home of the Griffin!
We are a Kindergarten to Grade 5 Dual Track English and French Immersion School. It is a school with a big heart that prides itself on nurturing students to their full potential.

Partnerships
Working Together Home & School
James Nisbet is very fortunate to have the active participation of many parent and community volunteers. The presence of volunteers at school has helped establish a warm and friendly atmosphere. Volunteers assist in the library, in classrooms, in student excursions and in many other ways. We invite you to be a volunteer in our school.
Our Reading Grandmas enjoy reading with our students every week. They are a big part of our Nisbet Family. We also visit Amber Meadows where the students delight in singing and playing their instruments for our Senior friends.
Parent Liaison Association
The James Nisbet PLA meets once a month to exchange ideas on topics of interest to parents and staff. The PLA supports school fundraising and assists with social activities for the community, such as a Family Fun Dance, Family Movie Night, a Pancake Breakfast for Patrols and monthly hot lunches.
Students For a Global Community
At Ecole James Nisbet we encourage the students to think beyond the boundaries of our school and local community. We have participated in PROJECT LOVE, UNICEF, TERRY FOX RUN and the DIABETES WALK-A-THON.
We take the ideals of a Green School seriously. We RECYCLE, REUSE & REDUCE.
With the help of the Peaceful School Philosophy, we nurture and encourage well rounded and caring students. Many of our assemblies are based on our Peace acronym which stands for

Advancing Community Schools
Ecole James Nisbet School has 2 active programs meeting the needs of pre-school children and their caregivers.
Families join us for special learning activities.
Pre-school will be Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-3:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Please call the school for further information @ 633-8870.
Support Services
Our Teachers, Resource Teachers and Early Learning Support Teacher work together to look at the needs of individual students as they enter kindergarten and progress through school.
Interactive writing initiatives, guided reading, literature circles and phonological awareness are part of the team teaching that occurs in the classroom. This year we will be piloting the new literacy series LITERACY PLACE and GO FACTS.
Inclusion and integration is a team approach with school, outside agencies and families working together so that every individual feels accepted, valued and safe. Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement, and consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members.
Our Guidance Counsellor works with a team, school, and parents to create a caring atmosphere whereby children’s needs are met through prevention, early identification and intervention. We help students focus on their journey through a collaborative effort using the school guidance plan, patience, understanding and above all, caring.
