Electrical Trades Technology introduces you to a variety of career opportunities in the electrical trades whether it is in electrical installation or maintenance, residential or commercial wiring, machine repair or some other aspect of electricity.
As with all Seven Oaks Career Ready programs, we provide technical training through in-class theory and work experience so you can learn by doing and through on-the-job training.
- Completion of Grade 11 core courses (done in semester one of Grade 11 year)
- One of the following math courses:
- Interest in working in the electrical trades
- Participation in an interview
- Completion of a Career Ready application
- Presentation of a certified transcript of marks
- Age cap of 21 years of age
Individuals who have completed Grade 12 are an adult learner or reside outside the division are encouraged to submit an application.
This course takes place for one full-time semester in Grade 11 and one full-time semester in Grade 12.
Under the guidance of supervisors and experienced electricians, you will cover topics like motor controls, alternating and direct current fundamentals, electrical and power tool safety, residential and commercial wiring practices as well as becoming familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code.
Seven Oaks School Division offers this program in partnership with IBEW 2085. The program will be taught in the facility adjacent to International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers office on Notre Dame Ave.
Upon completion of this program you will earn a minimum of eight high school credits as well as the possibility of Level One electrician accreditation.
