The Forks Digital Exploration Adventure Guide

The Forks is located on Treaty 1 land and was the traditional gathering place of Indigenous peoples for thousands of years prior to settlers and fur traders arriving from Europe 500 years ago. The Forks continues to be a meeting place for First Nations peoples and Winnipeggers of many different cultures, a place to celebrate cultural diversity through the arts, food, business and most recently a focus on human rights.

Using a camera we asked students to seek out a list of places and spaces at The Forks and surrounding area. We asked them to take fun team pictures to show they found them as they learned about history and the all of the wonderful services offered by The Forks and the surrounding area.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights

In the afternoon students visited The Canadian Museum for Human Rights.  Their mandate is to explore the subject of human rights, with special but not exclusive reference to Canada, in order to enhance the public's understanding of human rights, to promote respect for others, and to encourage reflection and dialogue - Museums Act.
