Our Story

Ozhaawashkwaa Animikii-Bineshi Aki Onji Kinimaagae' Inun (Blue Thunderbird Land-based Teachings Learning Centre) is an extension of the Seven Oaks School Division, located on 50-acres in West St. Paul, Manitoba. Rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, we foster reconciliation by braiding Land-based education, ecological restoration, and community stewardship together for Seven Oaks learners, educators, and the extended community.  

The Facilities:

  • Learning Centre: year-round gathering space with learning kitchen, washrooms, and resources
  • Service Centre: Maintenance and Transportation departments, Conference Rooms, and CVE Building Trades classroom

The Land:

  • 3 km of walking trails
  • Tipi

  • Fireside gathering circles
  • Wawiyia'kiti'gahn (Circle Garden): a Medicine Wheel shaped aligned with the four directions. Two quadrants grow sacred medicines, Sage and Sweetgrass, and two quadrants grow Indigenous Plants of the Indigenous tall-grass prairie. Forming an inner circle are seven benches inscribed with the Seven Sacred Teachings. Forming an outer circle are 13 boulders that represent the 13 moons of the lunar year.
