Q - What are the school hours?
A - School hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. First bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Dismissal bell rings at 3:00 p.m.
Q - How do I report an absence?
A - Please report the date of your child's absence, your child's name, your child's teacher's name and the reason for the absence via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, via our website - click on Report and Absence under "News and Announcements" or by phone at 204-694-8688. The school has an answering machine that is available 24 hours a day.
Q - What if my child is going to be late?
A - You may follow the same instructions that you would use when reporting an absence and indicate what time you expect your child to arrive at school. Please have your child check into the office upon arrival so we know he/she is here.
Q - What if I am going to be late picking up my child?
A - If you are going to be late, you need to make alternate arrangements for your child to be picked up at 3:00 p.m. (11:00 a.m. for morning Kindergarten students) as there is no after school supervision. Once arrangements have been made, please contact the school so the information may be passed along to the teacher. Please ensure that the person picking up your child is on your child's pick up list. If he/she is not, please ensure that the person picking your child has proper ID.
Q - Do you offer a milk program?
A. - Yes we do. Milk (chocolate or white) is available every day at lunch. Milk cards may be purchased at the office for $15.00 (20 milk) or $30.00 (40 milk). No single purchases will be available. If you would like to have your child in the milk program, please send exact change only or make a cheque payable to Constable Edward Finney School. Your child will be advised when the card is just about finished so they may purchase another one.
Q - Can my child bike to school?
A - Yes. There is an outdoor bike locker located on the west side of the school by the parking lot. The bike locker will be open until 8:30 a.m. It is then locked for the day and re-opened at 3:00 p.m. for students to pick up their bike. Please remember that your child should be wearing a proper fitting helmet!
Q - What clubs or sports can my child get involved in throughout the year?
A - At various times during the year, Finney offers a leadership program, bracelet club, drawing club, henna club, gardening club, Pow Wow Club, tap dance as well as badminton, basketball, cross-country running, floor hockey, flag football, soccer, team handball, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
