Winnipeg Public Library Database Collections - must have library card in order to access these resources.
EBSCOhost - access provided by the WPL, must have a library card in order to access.
RefSeek - a reference directory; gives lists of websites based on which topic you choose.
InfoPlease - provides quick information on various topics.
Statistics Canada - statistics on all things Canadian.
Note: You can use Wikipedia, however use it only to see their References section, and use those sources as your jumping off point - not Wikipedia itself.
