Since the fall of 2001, we recognized that a number of our children were coming to school without breakfast, and were consequently tired, hungry and challenged by learning expectations. This provided the rationale and impetus for the “Victory Breakfast Program”, which offers a nutritional breakfast for “any children who need to have breakfast at school for whatever reason”. It is open to all, and feeds 25-30 children on a daily basis. It is supported by a Breakfast Committee as well as by parents, staff, and students. It receives partial monetary and programming supports from The Seven Oaks School Division, Canadian Living Breakfast for Learning Program, the Royal Bank, private donations, and local businesses. Funding is an on-going challenge, but the commitment to our children is always strong.
The Breakfast Program also provides nutritional information to parents and students in the school’s newsletters, and in promotional events.
- Our Breakfast Program is open to all students attending Victory School who haven’t had breakfast, whether it’s once a week, once a month, or on a daily basis.
- Breakfast is served in the breakfast room starting at 8:30 am.
