Kiinaahmaagawin, Saagkiiwaewin, Songaeniidiiwin

That is the name given to our tree by Elder Mary Courchene. It means:

L'arbre de la vie/The Tree of Life

Mène une bonne vie/Living the Good Life for

En apprentissage, en amour et en courage/Learning, Love, Courage

The seeds represent the four nations from the medicine wheel as a way of recognizing that our school was built on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene,  as we are all treaty people. They also represent the seeds of peace from Ecole James Nisbet School as our school grew from that community.

The roots connect us to these beginnings and ground us in our developing understanding of truth and reconciliation.

The trunk of the tree is the Métis sash in recognition of the fact that we are on the homeland of the Métis nation and in celebration of the Francophone identity that is connected to Métis culture.

The main branches of the tree are from the wheat emblem taken from the Franco-Manitoban flag.

The leaves on the upper branches of the tree represent the beautiful diversity of our community.

The circles that enclose our logo reinforce that we are all treaty people and that we are stronger when we unite as a community.

Our beautiful logo was created based on the feedback of students and staff. We are very proud of everything it represents. What meaning can you draw from it?

Merci.
