UNESCO ASPnet

Established by the United Nations in1953, the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) is an international network that includes almost 7,800 member schools and institutions in 175 countries. The network links together students, teachers, and educational institutions across the world around a common goal: to build peaceful and sustainable societies in the minds of children and young people. Students and educators collaborate on common themes and projects focusing on global citizenship, sustainable development and reconciliation.

In 2024, Maples Collegiate joined the network as a candidate school.

The 2024-2025 theme is Climate Action and we are partnering with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to participate in the "Be An Upstander for Climate" project. This initiative offers student a unique opportunity to lead in environmental issues and inspire positive change within their schools and beyond.
