Maples Met Graduate Wins Prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship
Khushman Buttar, a recent graduate of Maples Met School in Winnipeg, has been
awarded a prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship valued at $120,000. She will use the
scholarship to pursue studies in Engineering at the University of Manitoba this fall.
The Schulich Leader Scholarships are among the most significant undergraduate STEM
scholarships in Canada. Out of thousands of applicants nationwide, only 100 students
are selected—50 to receive $120,000 for engineering and 50 to receive $100,000 for
studies in science, technology, or mathematics.
Buttar was nominated by advisor Jason Neufeld for her exceptional academic
performance, leadership, and commitment to extracurricular activities. Her selection
reflects not only her individual talents and determination but also the strength of
Maples Met School's approach to student-driven, experiential learning.
This marks the second time a Maples Met student has been chosen to receive a
Schulich Leader Scholarship—an impressive achievement for the growing high school.
As Buttar prepares to enter the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba,
she joins a select group of young Canadians recognized as future innovators and
leaders in STEM. The scholarship will support her through all four years of her
undergraduate studies, providing financial freedom to focus on academics and
research.
Khushman’s success is a point of pride for her school and community, and a powerful
example of what’s possible when hard work and opportunity come together.
