Maples Met Students Shine at The 2026 Manitoba Schools Science Symposium (MSSS)

School Stories |

Maples Met School students made an impressive showing at this year’s Manitoba Schools Science Symposium (MSSS), held on April 10-12 and the University of Manitoba Max Bell Fieldhouse. The MSSS brings together top young student scientists from across the province to showcase innovative research projects, celebrate scientific inquiry, and connect students with experts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Representing Maples Met, a strong group of student researchers demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to real-world problem solving. Their hard work was recognized with an outstanding number of medals across all categories.

Leading the way, Tehzeeb Cheema and Ekamjot Brar earned Gold Medals, placing them among the top competitors in the province. A large group of students also achieved Silver Medals, including Jan Ziv Prieto, Hyacinth Venus, Jaideep Delow, Kier Canlad, Anisa Kahlon, and Karman Chahil. Rounding out the success, Harjas Singh, Dianne Magtibay, Alex Duncan, and Gurfateh Sidhu each received Bronze Medals, highlighting the depth of talent within the school’s science program.

Our participation in MSSS has reflected the core values of Maples Met School, where students engage in hands-on, inquiry-based learning and connect their studies to real-world applications. Through their projects, these students not only demonstrated academic excellence but also contributed meaningful ideas to their fields of study.
