MICE

lti-mice.45d80516629.pngThe Met Innovation Centre for Entrepreneurship (MICE) Program at North Forge provides students with an immersive, hands-on internship experience rooted in creativity, innovation, and real-world business learning. Designed to move beyond traditional classroom instruction, the program empowers students to learn by doing. Through project-based learning, participants engage directly with authentic challenges, collaborate with mentors and entrepreneurs, and connect with community partners who bring real industry perspectives into the learning environment.

At the heart of the MICE Program is design thinking and problem-solving. Students explore how ideas move from concept to implementation while developing practical skills that are essential in today’s rapidly changing world. Whether working on idea development, marketing strategies, pitching concepts, or managing projects, students gain firsthand experience in the processes that drive innovation. This experiential approach helps learners understand not only how businesses operate, but also how creativity, resilience, and collaboration fuel meaningful solutions.

A key strength of the MICE Program is its focus on building confidence and professional skills. Students learn how to communicate effectively, present ideas persuasively, work productively in teams, and respond constructively to feedback. They are encouraged to take initiative, think critically, and adapt as projects evolve. These transferable skills prepare students not only for future entrepreneurial ventures but also for post-secondary studies and diverse career pathways.

For younger learners, MICE Lite serves as an engaging introduction to the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. Designed specifically for Grade 9 students, MICE Lite focuses on foundational skills such as teamwork, creative thinking, and structured problem-solving. Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, students develop curiosity, confidence, and an early understanding of design thinking principles. This introductory experience lays the groundwork for deeper engagement in the full MICE Program in later years.

Guiding the program is Stephen Sim, the MICE mentor, whose industry experience brings authenticity and inspiration to the learning journey. Stephen supports students as they navigate entrepreneurship and real-world problem solving, fostering creativity and purposeful learning. His mentorship ensures that students not only develop practical business skills but also cultivate the mindset needed to innovate, lead, and thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Together, the MICE Program and MICE Lite create a dynamic pathway for students to explore innovation, develop entrepreneurial thinking, and build the confidence to shape their futures.
