Attention Kindergarten, Grade 1, 3, 5, 7 Parents - ACTION REQUIRED

September 15, 2023

If you do not wish for your child to be screened, please let your school know by Sept 22nd.

The Lions Club is providing vision screening in Seven Oaks School Division to students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, 3, 5 and 7 this fall.  The screening is being completed between Sept 25th and October 25th.  Members of our Lions Clubs have been trained in the use of the SPOT Vision Screener.

The vision screener is able to screen for Myopia (near-sightedness), Hyperopia (far-sightedness) and Anisocoria (pupil size deviation). In addition, Astigmatism (blurred vision), Anisometropia (unequal refractive power) and Strabismus (eye misalignment) which can result in Amblyopia (lazy-eye), The individual screening takes just a few seconds and is performed from a distance of about three feet. There is no physical contact with the child and no eye drops are administered.

A print-out of the results for each child who should receive follow-up care from an eye care professional will be provided.

It is important to understand that it is only a screening and does not constitute an examination or diagnosis of vision problems.

This service is offered free of charge by the Lions Club under the MD5M Lions Kidsight vision screening program.
