Music
Early Years Music (Kindergarten to Grade 4)
In our school music program, students will develop a wide variety of skills and engage in diverse, creative learning experiences. Students will learn to sing as a part of a class ensemble, learn how to play numerous musical instruments, acquire new literacy skills, and develop an understanding and appreciation for diverse cultural approaches to music-making. Throughout the program, students will learn skills on drums, xylophones, ukuleles, recorders, music technology tools, and various other musical instruments. Students will also develop their creative thinking capacities as they generate their own original music compositions.
Committed to the reconciliation, we actively engage in community partnerships with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, learning from Indigenous perspectives on the importance of music-making. We are also very fortunate to be partnering with Guru Amjad who is leading the school Tabla program every week. We are excited to continue exploring rich musical experiences at A. E. Wright School.
