Middle School Education at ESOMS

Striving for Excellence, pour une meilleure communauté.

Ecole Seven Oaks Middle School is a dual track school offering programming in both English and French Immersion. There are currently 410 students in 20 classrooms from Grades  6 - 8 and 55 staff members. We are located at the corner of Salter Street and Jefferson Avenue. Classes run from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.with a one hour lunch period beginning at 11:15.

At ESOMS education means community. As a school community we work together to allow each person to do their best and reach out into the local and global community to make a difference in our world.

Middle years education means that the academic, physical and social/emotional aspects of learning are all part of a rich learning environment. One of the ways this is achieved at our school is by having only one teacher act as your child's homeroom teacher who spends the majority of the day with them. This enables strong educational relationships to flourish as we know that middle years students need strong connections and relationships with their teachers.  Teachers use block timetabling to support the integration of curriculum (mathematics, science, art, social studies, french and language arts) and inquiry based learning around larger themes. Students also participate in Physical Education, band, choir and fidding classes with specialist teachers. Technology development is integrated into all curricula and is supported by providing computers in every classroom as well as 75 laptops on 3 mobile carts for students use.

There are numerous opportunities for students to particiapte in athletics, the arts and clubs and committees. We offer participation on teams in: volleyball, basketball, cross-country, track and field, softball, badminton and marathon club. All students in Grade 6 study fiddling and have the option to continue in Grade 7 and 8.  Choir and Band is available to all to students as an option (all band instruments are supplied to children free of charge). Each year our school presents a Musical Production involving well over 100 students from actors, dances, chorus, sound and lighting techs and backstage crew.  At lunch and after school, students may get involved in student leasdership, intramural programmimg in the gym, GSA club, Pow Wow and various school lunchtime clubs and activities.

Students participate in a Technology, Arts, and Sports programing (TAS) class one morning each six day cycle. Throughout one year, students will be scheduled in three different classes. These may include: outdoor education, guitar, multimedia, metals, woods, foods and nutrition, textiles, graphics, indoor soccer, drama and art.  Also included in this program is an ice-hockey TAS class with the 7oaks Hockey Skills Academy.

Feel free to contact the school for further information about registration and/or student programming.
