Club d’art oratoire francophone de Garden City

Collège Garden City Collegiate’s own Club d’art oratoire francophone is the division’s only French debate and public speaking club and thus serves as our division’s representation in various French events. It was started in 2023 by Mme Lia Baffour and in our first year we attended a number of events including a national French debate competition in Montreal. It provides excellent opportunities for French immersion students to not only learn and develop debate and public speaking skills, but also speak in French with peers outside of class and engage with the Francophone community beyond our school building! Each week, we get to explore interesting topics and develop critical thinking by discussing openly and bouncing ideas off each other, all with the support of our teachers. We meet every Tuesday at lunch and are slowly getting better at our silly improv games.
