About Maples Collegiate

Maples Collegiate is a thriving, multicultural community with approximately 1350 students attending grade 9 to 12. As one of the larger schools in Manitoba, Maples is able to offer a variety of courses and programs to meet the wide-ranging needs of our students. Students working toward their high school graduation can choose either a traditional academic route or explore vocational and alternative options.

Grade 11 and 12 students who have completed certain academic requirements are eligible to enhance their studies further by enrolling in First Year Now. This program allows students to earn recognized university credits from University of Winnipeg professors at no cost. The courses are offered at one of the three high schools in Seven Oaks shortly after the end of the regular school day.

In addition to our regular high school programs, we also offer Co-operative Vocational Education (CVE) to students who have completed grade 11. These students can work toward high school graduation while gaining work experience in the following fields: aviation trades and technology, culinary services, hospitality services, health care aide or material fabrication/auto body.

Maples is well known for its caring and dedicated staff. They work closely with each student, treating every one as an individual member of a vibrant learning community. Maples Collegiate is home to unique and successful teacher advisory and flexible learning days programs that enriche all students’ high school experiences as well as help them develop responsibility and ownership for their learning.

Maples proudly offers a variety of extra-curricular activities where students can develop skills and friendships beyond the regular school day. The school actively competes in the Kildonan-Peguis Athletic Conference (KPAC) at the junior varsity and varsity levels. Teams include golf, x-country running, volleyball, soccer, basketball and athletics. As well, Maples hockey and football teams compete in the Winnipeg High School Leagues. A range of recreational opportunities from weight training to floor hockey is also available to students

In addition to our sports teams, we also have an outstanding performing arts program! Our performing choral groups, concert bands and jazz bands are open to students of all grade levels. These groups perform throughout the year for our school community and participate in music festivals in and outside of Manitoba. As well, we have a vibrant drama and theatre program that provides students with opportunities to explore the craft of acting and participate in performances every year.

Maples students are provided with challenging learning opportunities, chances to interact with their community as volunteers or student leaders, and guidance to plan future goals and careers. We are proud of our students' achievements and keep in touch with our grads through an active alumni association.
