Student Financial Assistance Program

The Manitoba Student Financial Assistance program provides financial assistance for educational purposes to Manitobans with limited financial resources.  The funds are designed to supplement, not replace, the student's resources or those of their immediate family.  The amount of assistance granted is determined according to specific program criteria, up to the maximum allowable amounts.

The Program

The Program administers the Canada Student Loans program (CSLP) on behalf of the federal government for students who are Manitoba residents.  Needs are met through a 60%/40% Federal (Canada Student Loan)/Provincial (Manitoba Student Loan) cost-sharing arrangement.  Loans are interest free during full-time study; repayment of loans must begin six months after ceasing to be a full-time student.

Manitoba students are encouraged to apply online at www.studentaid.gov.mb.ca.  This will speed up the processing of their loan by four to six weeks.  Further information on the requirements and application procedure for the CSLP is available from the Financial Aid & Awards Office.  On-line applications are available in June 2016, and paper applications are available starting in July.

The Manitoba government and the Business Council of Manitoba are providing numerous awards.  Indigenous students graduating in June who are pursuing post-secondary education in a broad range of disciplines, including the arts and sciences, education, nursing, business, music and many technical fields are encouraged to apply for the Business Council of Manitoba Awards Program.

SHAD Program 2020 has been cancelled.  Any Maples student who has applied is to contact Mrs. Costa with questions or concerns.
