In this session students will have the opportunity to create their own Anishinaabe-style florals on small canvases using bright colored acrylic paints, paintbrushes, and examples from the famous Ojibwe artists Norval Morrisseau and Christi Belcourt. They will learn about the history of medicinal florals depicted in Ojibwe artwork and items such as clothing, quillwork, beadwork, baskets, and paintings. They will also have a mini-lesson in Ojibwe syllabics and learn how to sign their name using the same syllabics system that is used in Riverbend's Ojibwe bilingual program!
