WHY TAKE SUMMER SCHOOL?

Summer school provides a unique opportunity for individual learners to create new patterns of behavior that lead to resilience - a Do-Over.  Students who were overwhelmed by the material or allowed themselves to fall behind can accept this second chance to learn, practice and demonstrate their understanding over a condensed, more focused time period. Students who make the commitment to put the time and effort into their learning, feel successful and are better prepared to participate in their classes in the fall.

‚Äč‚Äč

ELIGIBILITY:‚Äč

  • Students must have previously taken the course and obtained a minimum final mark of 35%.  Verification of mark will be required prior to acceptance.

  • Mark verification can be done internally for students attending a high school in Seven Oaks School Division.

  • Students attending a high school from outside the school division must provide the Summer School Office ‚Äčwith an official transcript from their home school to verify that they have received a mark of 35% or better in their selected course(s) prior to 2:30pm on June 30th for their registration to be accepted‚Äč

ATTENDANCE:

  • Students are expected to attend class on time every day.  More than 2 absences will result in withdrawal from the course as outlined in the Department of Educations guidelines.  No refunds will be issued in this instance.
  • Parents/Guardians will be notified of every absence.

‚ÄčAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IS EXPECTED:
  • Students are here to learn and school staff are here to facilitate that process.  Students, families and staff members will treat one another with respect at all times.
  • Classes are conducted in air conditioned comfort; students are expected to arrive dressed appropriately for classes.
  • All Seven Oaks Schools are smoke free campuses; smoking and vaping are not permitted in school buildings or on school grounds.
  • Use of drugs or alcohol means that the student is unable to participate in the classroom learning and will need to be removed from the school.
  • The safety of our students and staff members is a priority.  Violent, threatening or abusive behavior is intolerable and will result in immediate expulsion from the program. Damage to school property  would be included in these unacceptable behaviors.  No refund will be issued under these circumstances.
  • We are here to learn - anything that gets in the way of achieving that goal has no place here.‚Äč
