My name is Gloria Barker from Hollow Water First Nation proud woman of the Bear Clan. I presently teach at Riverbend Community School in the Ojibwe Bilingual Program. It is a pleasure and privilege to teach Anishinaabemowin to these wonderful students from K - 5. I have been teaching and doing presentations and workshops in the education field for the last 25 years. My work is in the promotion and revitalization of Anishinaabemowin. I will continue to help, teach, and utilize my gifts and talents to promote our first language in years to come! Gichi Miigwech!

My name is Pamela Morrison from Big Grassy River First Nation in Ontario. I am of the Bear Clan as well as the Sturgeon Clan. I am currently the Ojibwe Bilingual Kindergarten teacher at Riverbend Community School. It has been an honour to pass on the language the past 3 years to the Kindergarten students. Gichi Miigwech!
Presentation Overview:
Gloria Barker and Pamela Morrison will share an overview of the Ojibwe Bilingual Program at Riverbend School. Riverbend Community School hosts the 7 Oaks Ojibwe Bilingual program and its goal is to promote language and Ojibwe culture through knowledge keepers and language speakers who will ensure Anishinaabemowin will be spoken 7 generations from now. Students enrolled in the Ojibwe Bilingual Program receive instruction in core subject areas in both Ojibwe and English.
