Ben Linnick

Ben Linnick Aki.jpg

Ben Linnick is a MΓ©tis/Ukrainian man who grew up in Treaty 5 territory, in the town of Flin Flon, Manitoba. Ben has had the privilege of spending much of his childhood in the northern boreal forest and on the many lakes that surrounded his hometown. Through his childhood experiences he developed a deep love for the land which carried on into his adulthood. After graduating and moving to Winnipeg he studied languages at the University of Manitoba, receiving a B.A with a Major in French and Minor in Spanish. Since then, he has accumulated diverse work experience that has brought together his love of science, language, history, food, and environmental activism. Ben is rooted to the land and since joining the team at  Ozhaawashkwaa Animikii-Bineshi Aki Onji Kinimaagae' Inun as the Land-based education program manager, he sees his role as being guided by the Elders who were pivotal in creating Aki, and supporting students of all ages to reconnect and rebuild relationships to the land and to understand and value the land on a deeper level by learning, observing, reflecting, and being inspired by the land and all our relations who call it home.
