Boozhoo!
Migizii Ototem - Eagle Clan: I am an Anishinaabe citizen of Sagkeeng First Nation, Treaty One and First Nations Sovereigntist.
I have been part of many beautiful Indigenous ceremonial practices since the late 1970s and was fortunate to meet and listen to many wonderful and wise Elders throughout my learning.
Along with the bundle of being an Anishinaabe Knowledge Keeper, I also bring my experience and knowledge through many years of work in First Nations Education in First Nations Communities throughout Manitoba. I have an MSW-ITR (Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Program for Indigenous Trauma and Resilience), MCATD (Master's Certificate for Adult Training and Development), and BA (Bachelor's Degree in Arts).
As an Elder/Knowledge Keeper, I have been the Lead for Sweat Lodge ceremonies for various groups and organizations, this has included schools, urban transition program, youth groups. I have commitment to supporting various traditional ceremonies in different capacities for various ceremonial lodges; leading in traditional singing, teachings. Some of these ceremonies are Sundances, teaching lodges, spiritual healing ceremonies. I have provided workshops on culture/ tradition/drumming &singing to various schools in communities and organizations. I have also provided workshops on Historical and Intergenerational Trauma for: first Year University for First Nations students, Family Support Worker Training Program, Men's group , Resource teachers, First Nations Teachers.
I look forward to being a part of the Seven Oaks School Division as an Elder and Resource to support the many classrooms, schools, staff, and programs and the many children and youth we serve.
