My name is Jonathan Ellison.  I am a member of the Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation, otherwise known as Jackhead.  As a child, growing up, I attended Wanipigow School on Hollow Water First Nation.  Our small house was in the forest very close to Lake Winnipeg.  This served, not only as my playground, but also as a natural classroom where I learned how to live with the land.  Fishing, hunting, being one with nature, and learning from the elders in the community were some of the best times of my life.

All my life, I have been involved in education.  Working as an Educational Assistant in a First Nations community and in several schools in Winnipeg, I have gained a great deal of experience and expertise.  I have been an employee of Seven Oaks School Division for the past twenty years.  Currently, and just recently, I have been assigned the position of Middle Years Indigenous Cultural Support and Community Connector.  My role will be to help support our Indigenous students in all sorts of cultural, land-based learning and to prepare them for their future in High School and Cultural Credit.  Setting up our Indigenous students for success, will be just one of our many goals for this school year.
