As with all Seven Oaks Career Ready programs, we provide technical training through in-class theory and work experience so you can learn by doing and through on-the-job training.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 11 compulsory courses (special exceptions can be made)
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in the performing arts
  • Participation in an orientation
  • Completion of a Career Ready application including references or referrals
  • Presentation of a certified transcript of marks

Individuals who have completed Grade 12 are an adult learner or reside outside the division are encouraged to submit an application.

This program will take place from September to June and will work in cooperation with a multitude of arts organizations in the music, theatre and film industry. Students will be able to access the extensive network of talent in the Performing Arts industry here in Winnipeg’s thriving arts and cultural community.

For 24 of the weeks in this program the student will be immersed into a variety of vocational experiences and potential career positions in the production of theatre, film, music and other arts-based events. This program will also provide a history of the Performing Arts with a focus on the development of motion pictures, music from the beginning of the recorded era, and a history of theatrical productions. In addition to this, the program will include an in-class skill acquisition in the state-of-the-art Seven Oaks Performing Arts Centre at Collège Garden City Collegiate.

Upon course completion earn up to 8 high school credits.
